The Musée de l'Amérique francaise, founded in 1663 is the oldest museum in Canada and has its roots in European religious and educational traditions. It showcases Canada's colorful past.

It is housed in a building that is part of the Séminaire de Québec site, founded by Monseigneur de Laval. Its first collection of scientific instruments intended for educational purposes dates back to 1806.

Through the years, numerous collections were assembled, such as ancient coins and medals, mineralogy, geology, numismatic, zoology, and botanical collections, as well as fossils, paintings, ethnology and ancient books.

The museum organizes exhibitions and numerous other activities examining the evolution of French culture on the North American continent.

Through its exhibits you can relive the great adventure of the French people in America, to dwell on their way of life, to understand the spirit that was their driving force.
