Jean Deshaies and Horst Gamper, two restaurateurs, founded Café du Monde in 1987. Robert Prigent, confident that his talent would take him far, was the Café's original chef. The restaurant serves French dishes with a difference.

It serves classic bistro dishes, which were, for some, a novelty. Their team created a unique ambience among Quebec City bistros. The Café offered a good meal at a reasonable price and became a place for meeting new people. You could even play the piano if it struck your fancy. As a result, it stood out from among the most popular Quebec City bistros.

Café du Monde has recently launched a new concept by placing its magnificent wine cellar, containing 1500 to 2000 bottles, in the middle of the dining room. There is something for every taste and budget: white, red, rosé, bubbly champagne and spirits.

It offers a selection of wines (including both regular and special vintages) from around the world. All the bottles are arranged so that the clients may admire and read the labels. It ensures that every aspect of your lunch, dinner or brunch lives up to your expectations.
