Zoo de Granby

Granby Zoo began operating in September 2004. It is the second institution to be accredited in Quebec and the fifth in Canada. It is now part of a select group that includes the Montreal Biodome, the Toronto Zoo, the Calgary Zoo and the Vancouver Aquarium.

The Granby Zoo is now one of over 200 accredited North American zoos and aquariums that collaborate in animal species reproduction in captivity programs, in conservation, research and education of public.

There is a market located at the centre of the site, which is fully air- conditioned and can seat over 300 visitors. Picnic areas have been set up nearby for those who prefer to eat outside.

The animals of the zoo undergo a regular medical check up that includes brushing teeth, palpating organs, examining skin, taking blood samples etc. The veterinary, assisted by her team, also establishes the diet of 1,000 residents and cares for sick animals.
