Battlefields National Park derived its name from Abraham Martin, one of the first lay persons to settle on the heights of Québec.

In 1908, the National Battlefields Commission (NBC) was given the mandate to celebrate Québec's Tricentennial and highlight the feats of the two famous battles (in 1759 and 1760).

Every year, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the date marking Armistice Day, a commemorative ceremony is held in front of the cross.

Battlefields Park has been described by renowned landscape architect Frederick G Todd as “the great kingdom of nature”. It was to this man that the NBC entrusted the design of the site's landscaping. It was a concept meant to preserve the site's unique character and bring out its rich historic background.

The park covers a surface area of 108 hectares and has close to 6,000 trees and shrubs belonging to over 80 species. The Jeanne d'Arc Garden, with its flower beds, completes this wonderful natural scene.

Hours: Monday to Friday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
